When I was studying to be a mental health counsellor, we were told to journal every night. At first, I thought it was odd as it wasn’t part of our grade but I jumped in wholeheartedly. After the first week, I couldn’t believe how journalling brought thoughts from my subconscious to my conscious mind. I discovered beliefs and values that I didn’t know I had and mental limitations that were holding me back from pursuing my dreams.

Journalling is a powerful way to get to know yourself. If you take the time to journal everyday, you will discover subconscious thoughts and beliefs that you didn’t know existed. Below are 50 journal prompts for self discovery that will help you tap into your unconscious thoughts and beliefs.

I make a conscious effort to write in my journal twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening. Journalling is a great way to understand yourself more and get to know your inner thoughts, limitations and desires.
