Why is self-care important

Keep in mind that we may receive commissions when you click our links and make purchases. However, this does not impact our reviews and comparisons. We try our best to keep things fair and balanced, in order to help you make the best choice for you.

In our busy, modern lives, we often put our own needs to the back of our mind and prioritise those around us. Hands up if your guilty of neglecting your own needs?

I know I am and that’s why making time of self-care and focusing on your own mental and physical well-being is so important.

So, if your starting your own self-care practice or maybe you know someone else who needs to show themselves some extra love, I have the perfect gifts for you.

COVID-19 is impacting our day to day life, so let’s show the people we care about some love! All of the gifts I have included below can be shipped directly to your loved ones. Stay safe and show them that you care.

Happy by Fearne Cotton

“This book is a way to release what’s going on inside your head and to keep heading towards the good stuff. The simple stuff. The stuff that’s going to really hit up that happiness on a deep and nourishing level. Whether you dip into these pages every now and then when you feel you need it, or use it daily as a positive exercise, I hope it brings you much relief, joy, and calm. Amen to the pen.”

– Fearne Cotton

I started reading Happy just before the UK went into lockdown and I can honestly say it is one of the best books I have ever read. Period.

In this book, Fearne draws on her own experiences with mental health and unhappiness to offer practical ways to improve your life and find joy in the everyday. Throughout the book, there is advice from experts in happiness, mental health, self-image, and yoga.

With workbook elements throughout, this book isn’t just a good read. It is a necessary part of your self-care toolkit.

Eco-friendly Yoga Mat

Yoga. The best way to practice physical self-care.

If you often feel overwhelmed by any kind of stress, (work stress, family stress, etc.) then yoga is the best way to manage and relieve this build-up.

For years I didn’t believe the hype around yoga. I brushed it under the carpet thinking it was just people trying use mental illness to profit. Boy was I wrong.

You see, you don’t even need to go to a class to practice Yoga, you can do it from the comfort of your home, with Youtube.

I found Yoga with Adriene through a fellow mental health blogger and I was instantly hooked. She has so many great, free yoga routines to deal with everything from stress to depression to loss. I highly recommend checking out her channel.

So, if you have a loved one who suffers from severe stress, send them the gift of calm with this Eco-friendly yoga mat and Adriene’s Youtube channel.

P.S. There’s a great selection of colours to choose from!

Essential Oil Diffuser

I discovered essential oil diffusers when I started private counseling. I remember walking into my counselor’s office only to be met with this wonderful, calming smell of lavender and coconut oil.

Any nervous emotions I was holding onto faded away and I instantly felt more at ease. Karen, my counselor, later showed me that instead of having a lock in her room, she used the timer on the diffuser for a more peaceful experience.

I knew I had to get my own after a few sessions, so I did! And let me say, as someone who suffers from anxiety, my diffuser helps me to relax and eases any feelings of anxiety.

If you suffer from anxiety or panic attacks, I highly recommend this essential oil diffuser. With daily use (especially when paired with yoga or meditation) you will begin to feel more calm and relaxed.

Sterling Silver Semicolon Open Ring

Jewelry is one of the best gifts you can give. When worn, it is a constant reminder of the person who gifted it to you. This semicolon open ring is no different.

When someone suffers from mental illness like depression, it is easy to feel alone. It can feel very isolating and ultimately makes you isolate yourself even more. However, this beautiful sterling silver semi-colon ring will remind your loved one that they are loved and cared for, even on their dark days.

Sometimes we all need a little reminder that we are cared for, things do get better and our story isn’t over yet.

The Self Love Journal

The Self-Love Journal is not just a book; this is a pilgrimage for anyone who has ever lost their way. Marchand invites readers on a compassionate and loving journey to reclaim the authentic self. This book invites honesty, curiosity, and hope for those who seek to truly heal.”

Kathleen Parrish, Licensed Professional Counselor and author of The Essence of Resilience

Learning to love yourself can be a difficult journey but you are not alone on this journey. Many people, including myself, struggle with their confidence and self-image. I remember months on end when I would wake up, hating every single bit of myself. My body, my mind, my life.

Over time, through practicing self-love, my self-hate has almost gone. Almost because I still have bad days and low moods, but that is natural.

If you, or someone you know, struggle with self-love then The Self Love Journal is for you. Recommended by qualified counselors, the 4 step process included in this journal will teach you to banish self-doubt, love yourself more and build your self-esteem.

The Self Love Journal includes:

  • Proven methods–Grow with journaling exercises based on positive psychology, mindfulness, and other effective methodologies.
  • Personal space–The simple layout includes blank lines, so you can write directly on the pages, and inspiring quotes add a little boost of courage.
  • Chart a course–Follow the journal from beginning to end, or pick your favorite practices to do on a daily basis.
